Nursery
First Christian Church has a bright, well-equipped, and
well-staffed nursery which is a wonderful place for our infants
through three-year-olds to begin to feel a part of our church
family. The nursery is staffed by a paid professional and
parent/friend and youth volunteers.
Worship
Children’s bulletins help our younger folks become familiar with
the parts of the worship service and provide activities related
to the sermon. Children ages four-seven are invited to
experience Children’s Worship and Wonder after the Children’s
Moment. Older children remain in worship with their family.
Children’s Worship and Wonder prepares young children for
worship using a special style of storytelling and work with
story figures and art materials. Rocking chairs at the back of
the sanctuary provide a place to calm and soothe restless little
ones.
Holidays
During the Advent and Christmas seasons, children participate in
hanging Chrismons on the tree as the church is decorated,
lighting the Advent wreath, making gifts for others at an Advent
workshop, being a part of the Christmas Eve pageant. The
children process with their palm branches on Palm Sunday and
participate in an Easter Fest event as a time to create crafts
which are symbols of the season.

Sunday School
All of the children come to the Gathering Room at 9:30 a.m. for
a Music Time to prepare to sing during the worship service at
special times during the year. At 9:45 a.m. each age group goes
to its own class.
Kindergarten through fifth grade will use the
interdenominational curriculum Seasons of the Spirit. It is
lectionary-based and offers a variety of activities, including:
Bible study, music, art, drama, and crafts. Pre-schoolers have a
Bible Quest curriculum designed just for them to hear, tell, and
experience Bible stories in many ways.
Children’s Library
A children’s lending library is located in the hallway of the
children’s wing on the first floor.
Intergenerational activities
Visits are made to our older members and shut-ins during the
year. The children make simple crafts and always sing to and
with these folks. Each of our children is prayed for regularly
by a group of church members who have covenanted to pray for
them daily.
