Christianity and Science
Toward a Theology of Nature by John Haught
Book Study led by Beth Packert
and Rich Burke on the 3rd floor
What is the relationship between science and religion? Do
they conflict with each other? "In the face of recent discoveres
some maintain their faith by clinging to a pre-scientific
world view; others conclude that perhaps "the universe
has outgrown the biblical God who is said to be its creator."
Maintaining that perhaps we are not faced with an either/
or choice, this study will explore what the author calls "the
three infinites ---the immense, the infinitesimal and the
complex"--- and in the process invites us into an
"unprecedented appreciation for the grandeur of God, creation,
Christ, and redemption. Join us for what promises to be a
fascinating exploration.
ARK Parenting Class
Led by Lynne Salvaggio and Carol Church in
the parlor
ARK? What is it? An ARK (Adults Relating to Kids) group
provides a fun, relaxed, confidential, small group environment
in which adults can practice giving unconditional love and
high self-esteem to children. ARK Groups:
Equip adults to give God's unconditional love, revealed
through Jesus Christ, to their children.
Help group members learn how to discipline children with
love.
Enable members to develop "love-based" relationships rather
than "fear-based" relationships.
Provide specific lessons which help group members apply the
principles of unconditional love to everyday situations.
Parents of all age children are welcome and encouraged to
attend.
Warren Fellowship Class
Bible Study with shared leadership in Room
21
When was the last time you read through Chronicles? How about
Nehemiah? Since Chronicles never makes an appearance
in the Lectionary and Nehemiah appears only once, chances are
good you almost never hear these books
read in church. And yet, the matters addressed in these books
are quite current---worship styles, hymns, singing and
instrumentation, architecture. Join friends, new and old, to
explore these often forgotten books of the bible and discover
anew how they speak to us today.

More Sunday Morning Adult Studies Sacred Grounds
Discussion group with shared leadership in the Snidow
Fellowship Hall
Never shy of tackling many of the difficult issues of the
day, this group seeks to discern a Christian response to many of
the vexing current events we face as we open our morning
newspapers. Grab a cup of coffee, a comfy chair and join us as
we decide together the issues we will explore in the coming
weeks.
Prayer 101
Discussion led by Jim Knap in Classroom 22
If you have never had a Sunday book that you "couldn't put
down", that may all change when you pick this book
up. This may be the one you can't put down! Author, Don
Aycock proposes to be our guide as we move through the
country called prayer. Do you have insecurities or doubts
about prayer in your relationship to God, or questions
about how God answer prayers? If you do, you are not alone;
we all struggle with theses feelings at times. In fact,
some of these concerns about prayer predate the New
Testament. Aycock helps us understand these uncertainties
and sorts out what it is that God may have in mind for you.
Following our discussions on Becoming a Blessed
Church (or, perhaps a more blessed church) Aycock has some
meaningful ideas about prayer which may help us
discern how we might participate in the process and be
meaningfully involved in bringing wholeness and healing to
the world. Come share your ideas, your experiences and your
reactions with us and we will all grow.
